The 10th Gala of the José María Cervelló Awards for business law was held last Wednesday at the Aula Magna of the IE Business School. The prize, awarded by the IE Law School and ONTIER Firm, consists of €30,000 donated by our firm in order to promote legal research and studies, as well as to enable access to LLM and IE Law School programs for people without the required financial resources.
The projects needed to address the topic Business compliance – beginning, preventing corruption and competing effectively, with special attention to the market opened between Europe and the USA. This year, the award went to the magistrates María de los Ángeles Villegas and Miguel Ángel Encinar del Pozo, who had submitted a project named 'Compliance Programs and DPA: A New Step on the Way to a Borderless 'Anti-corruption Law'.
The event was honoured to have Mr. Adolfo Suárez Illana, President of ONTIER; Mr. Eduardo Torres-Dulce, of Counsel for Garrigues; Mr. Javier de Cendra, Dean at the IE Law School; Ms. María Pilar Galeote, Director of Cátedra José María Cervelló and Mr. Adolfo Menéndez, Joint Owner of the Cátedra, in the audience.
The Cervelló awards were created to honour Mr. José María Cervelló's memory, an entrepreneur and pioneer developing international law in Spain.
