Yesterday Expansión published their Top 10 2016 Deals Ranking within Spain. There they gathered the main corporate deals of the year. ONTIER made it to the 10th position, all the way from the 128th position. ONTIER was shortlisted in this ranking together with Latham&Waltkins, DLA Piper and Baker McKenzie, among others.
Some of the most important deals in which the law firm has taken part this year have been the takeover of FCC issued by the Mexican businessman Mr. Carlos Slim which amounted to 1,529 million €; the bank finance and guarantee deals for Patentes Talgo, which amounted to 1,600 million euros; the put and call option contract of debt in favour of Inversora Carso, which amounted to 853 million euros; and the cancellation of the financing (and structuring of a new one) for the real estate agency Soinmob, which amounted to 650 million euros.
According to TTR, Uría and Freshfields lead the legal sector in Spain in terms of M&A deals.
Capital Markets Ranking
As per Expansión, 2016 was a great year for M&A, but not so great in terms of capital markets. However ONTIER made it to the 6th position in this ranking for assisting 3 deals amounting to over 946 million euros.
Together with ONTIER, Linklaters, Uría Menéndez, Garrigues, Cuatrecasas and Clifford Chance stood out as well.
